A window factory audit should connect production processes to the products being purchased. A clean showroom or a long equipment list is not enough. For an overseas buyer, the audit is most useful when it follows a sample order from approved drawing through materials, fabrication, inspection and packing.
Agree the audit scope
Identify the legal entity, production location and product systems relevant to the order. Clarify which processes are performed internally and which are subcontracted. Ask who controls the specifications issued to outside processors and how returned components are accepted.
Use a representative product rather than reviewing unrelated production. Set the audit purpose in advance: technical capability, quality-system operation or a specific concern. An audit is an evidence-gathering exercise, not automatic product certification.
Follow document and material control
Check how approved drawings reach the shop floor and how obsolete revisions are removed. Select a production item and trace its profile, glass and hardware references to the order. Review labels and storage arrangements for materials that look similar but have different specifications.
Ask how damaged or nonconforming material is identified and held. Review a real corrective-action example with customer information removed. The important question is whether the process prevents an unresolved item from moving unnoticed into finished production.
Observe fabrication and inspection
Review the relevant cutting, machining, assembly, sealing and glazing processes. Ask which dimensions and operations are checked, what measuring equipment is used and how its suitability is maintained. The audit should connect inspection records to actual item identifiers.
Observe operation of a representative finished unit and compare it with the approved specification. Check how the factory handles changes and rework. One satisfactory sample does not establish the conformity of an entire order, so understand the inspection plan for production quantities.
Examine packing and traceability
- Opening IDs and product labels.
- Protection of corners, finishes, hardware and glazing.
- Packing records and dispatch checks.
- Identification of separately packed accessories.
- Procedures for reporting and correcting discrepancies.
Record evidence, questions and actions separately. Give each action an owner and a response date. Before approving a supplier, review whether critical gaps have been closed with credible records rather than only a verbal assurance.
Shanghai Slang window options, including casement and sliding windows, can anchor a product-specific enquiry. Use the actual proposed system and order requirements when building the audit checklist. The strongest audit result is a traceable account of how that order will be controlled.
