Home     /     Blog     /     What Determines Aluminium Window Prices in a Custom Order?
By Coco

Aluminium windows price factors extend well beyond the width and height of an opening. Two quotations can describe aluminium windows and still represent different glass, profiles, hardware and service scopes. Before comparing totals, turn the project into a defined opening schedule and ask suppliers to state their assumptions.

Opening layout changes the component list

A fixed light, a single opening sash and a multi-panel assembly use different components. Mullions, hinges, operators, locks and screens can change the cost even when the overall frame dimensions remain similar. Mark fixed and moving panels clearly so the supplier does not price a different layout.

Unusual shapes, large panes and many unique sizes may also affect fabrication and handling. Ask whether repeated items share the same specification and whether an alternative layout could meet the design brief. A useful value discussion identifies changes explicitly rather than quietly reducing the specification.

Glass and frame systems need exact references

List glass plies, treatments, coatings, cavities and any laminated construction. The phrase double glazed does not identify one universal price. If thermal, acoustic or impact-related performance is required, request a defined proposal and the relevant evidence.

Likewise, identify the frame system and finish. Profile design, thermal-break configuration and coating requirements can differ. Compare those references before treating a lower quotation as a saving for the same product.

Include hardware, accessories and documentation

Handles, locks, restrictors, insect screens and special operating equipment belong in the comparison. Ask which components are standard and which are optional. Include requirements for samples, drawings, inspections or project-specific documentation where they form part of the order.

Check service arrangements and replacement-part references. A quotation should explain what is supplied and what remains the buyer’s responsibility. Do not assume a general price includes installation, site measurement or repair of surrounding finishes.

Separate product price from delivery and site cost

  • Window supply with an itemized specification.
  • Packing, delivery and any special handling.
  • Survey, installation and commissioning if included.
  • Lifting access and making good around openings.
  • Taxes or import-related costs assessed for the destination.

Request prices for the same revision and quantities. If alternatives are offered, ask for their specification changes and price differences separately. There is no meaningful universal unit price without those assumptions, and a budget estimate should not be mistaken for a final order quotation.
